The 42u rack is completely customizable and can handle even the heaviest loads up. 19 inch server racks can vary in qualities. It is most frequently used as a measurement of the overall height of 19 inch and 23 inch rack frames as well as the height of equipment that mounts in these frames whereby the height of the frame or equipment is expressed as multiples of rack units for example a typical full size rack cage is 42u. Newer server rack cabinets come with adjustable mounting rails allowing the user to place the rails at a shorter depth if needed.

Server racks can range from 0 to 50 inches in depth but are commonly seen at 24 and 48 inch depths.
